How to choose a truly good pole dance trainer?

Good pole dance trainer for me
is much more than someone who can show movements or perform complex tricks. A truly good pole dance trainer creates a safe and supportive environment where both the body and the mind grow.
If I were choosing a pole dance instructor for myself, I would pay attention to the following:
Experience and understanding of the body
It’s important that a trainer doesn’t just demonstrate elements, but truly understands what you are doing and why. Proper technique always comes first - it shows that the coach knows anatomy, biomechanics, and can structure movements in a way that is safe and effective.
When the trainer is beside you, they provide proper spotting. When they step back, it means you’ve mastered the technique and can perform the element safely on your own.
Teaching style that resonates with you
Every trainer has their own approach and energy. Some are highly technical, some softer and more sensual, some emphasize strength. When a trainer’s style matches your goals and energy, progress comes much faster.
Ability to notice details
Body alignment, muscle activation, breathing - a good trainer sees it all. They adapt movements to your body because there is no “universal technique.” This is what separates a true teacher from just a good dancer.
Warm and safe atmosphere
Pole dance is an intimate journey with your body: you discover new possibilities, overcome fears, and step out of your comfort zone. That’s why it’s important during training to feel support and care and to know that no one will push you beyond what you’re ready for.
Individual attention
Each student is a universe of their own: with their body history, pace, and goals. I personally try to notice the needs of every student - true progress happens where someone works with you, not just “leads the class.”
And most importantly
After a class, you should feel that you learned something new, overcame something, and believe in yourself a little more. If a trainer gives you that feeling - then you’ve found the right person.
